NC Certified Peer Support Specialist Training
Peer Support Specialists are people living in recovery with mental illness and/or substance use disorder who provide support to others who can benefit from their lived experiences. The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Program provides acknowledgment that the peer has met a set of requirements necessary to provide support to individuals with mental health or substance use disorder.
WellSurgent is authorized to provide trainings that can be applied toward certification as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist. For the NCCPSS Program’s current certification process (Track B), applicants complete an Approved Course training consisting of at least 50 hours (minimum 40 hours face-to-face instruction and 10 hours of pre-work/homework). All Approved Courses will expire by December 2029. In addition, we offer several WRAP options that may satisfy the 20 hours of additional training requirement.
We work closely with curriculum developers to schedule classes. If you would like additional information about the curricula we offer, please reach out to our team.
