North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist

Peer Support Specialists are people living in recovery with mental illness and / or substance use disorder and who provide support to others whom can benefit from their lived experiences. The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Program provides acknowledgment that the peer has met a set of requirements necessary to provide support to individuals with mental health or substance use disorder.

Peer Support Professional Development

Professional development will focus on effectively building PSS skills, including motivational strategies and techniques, problem solving, and critical thinking. Attendees will receive training to enhance their employment opportunities and navigate the responsibilities of a Peer Support Specialist.

Community Partnerships and Peers

Partnering with other community, peer-operated and faith-based organizations to develop a strong network and create communication channels to reach those in need of the tools and resources that these evidence-based, peer support trainings and groups can provide.
